The trial fee pays for a one-hour online lesson with an experienced teacher assigned for the subject, from RM50. It is a real taught lesson, so a family can test the teaching before deciding anything else.
What does the trial include?
The hour is a full lesson. The teacher starts from what the student can already do, watches the student work through actual questions, and explains the step where the working breaks down.
Afterwards the student should be able to describe one thing they understood that they did not at the start. If they cannot, that is useful evidence too.
What is agreed before, and what comes after?
| Agreed before the trial | Decided after the trial |
|---|---|
| Fee for the first hour, from RM50 | Whether the teacher is a good fit |
| Format: online, one-to-one | Day and time of each lesson |
| A teacher assigned for the subject | Number of classes a week, usually about 1.5 hours each |
| One real lesson to judge | Which topics to work on next |
The family books only if happy with the fee, then judges the teaching. The after-the-trial page walks through the next step.
How do I use the hour well?
Prepare the evidence before the lesson. Picture this example. A Form 4 student who loses marks in Chemistry mole calculations brings three marked questions, circles the step where each went wrong and writes one sentence: “I do not know when to divide by molar mass.”
The teacher can go straight to that step, which means the hour is spent teaching and not searching. The trial lesson agenda builder helps a student write such a note in a few minutes.
How do I judge whether the trial was worth it?
Ask four questions once the lesson ends:
- Did the teacher find the real gap, or only repeat the textbook?
- Could the student solve a fresh question at the end that they could not at the start?
- Did the student feel able to say “I do not understand” during the lesson?
- Did the pace suit the student, neither rushed nor slow?
The after-trial reflection and discussion checklist turns these into a short form, and how to decide what to do after a trial lesson covers the next step whatever your answers are.
What can the fee not tell you?
The fee shows the rate before you start, and no price can promise a grade. If budget is tight, prioritising subjects when you cannot take tuition for all of them helps you choose where one trial should go.
