SPM Tuition gives online one-to-one lessons to students in every Malaysian state and federal territory. A student in Kangar, Kuching or Kuala Lumpur meets an experienced teacher assigned for the subject.
Why does your state change how lessons are planned?
Lessons are online, so distance stops being the question. The school week is the question.
Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu have a Friday and Saturday weekend, so the free days fall differently from the rest of the country. Every other state and the federal territories rest on Saturday and Sunday. A Kelantan student with a quiet Friday afternoon and a Selangor student with a quiet Sunday afternoon can each have a lesson, but the two calendars do not line up.
How does a school calendar affect the lesson plan?
The states also follow one of two school calendar groups, Group A or Group B, so term breaks and exam weeks do not start on the same dates everywhere. The SPM timetable and personal study calendar explains how to build your own plan from the official dates, which you should confirm with your school or the Lembaga Peperiksaan.
Picture this example. A Form 5 student in Terengganu has school trials in a fortnight and wants one Additional Mathematics lesson a week.
- Friday morning is free, but the family has prayers and errands.
- Saturday morning is free and quiet.
- The teacher and student settle on Saturday at 9 am for four weeks, then review.
The same student in Johor would be looking at Sunday evening instead. Nothing about the teaching changes. Only the slot does.
Which families think hardest about online lessons?
Three situations come up again and again when families look at lessons from a distance.
- Boarding school students who can use a device only at set hours and need lessons inside that window.
- Students with work or activities on certain days, such as family business shifts or sports training.
- Families far from a larger town where a student would otherwise travel long distances for a subject teacher.
If you are comparing this with a centre, read online tuition versus travelling to a tuition centre for a balanced view.
What should you check before the trial?
A lesson is only useful if the student can actually join it. The online lesson readiness checklist covers the device, the connection and a quiet corner, and the local study access planner helps you map the days and places where study is realistic.
Then pick the subject page, for example SPM Mathematics tuition or SPM Bahasa Melayu tuition, and read how the one-hour trial class (from RM50) works.
Choose your state
Each state page below adds notes on its school week, calendar group and the subjects families there most need to plan for. The state hub for Kedah is one place to see how the Friday and Saturday weekend plays out in practice.
