Form 4 Sejarah is easier when you read each chapter as a chain of cause and result. This route shows how to study the year so that content and answering skills grow together.
This page is part of SPM Sejarah. The later stage of the same story is on the Form 5 route.
What should your weekly routine look like?
Keep the routine short and steady. One chapter section at a time is enough.
- Read the section and write a chain: what happened, why, what followed.
- Pick one date that clarifies the order, and add it to the chain.
- Answer one short question on paper, with a reason and one piece of evidence.
- Check the answer against your textbook and mark the gaps.
Four steps, repeated each week, cover the content and the skill.
Which skills belong beside the chapters?
The answering skills pages work with every chapter.
- Turning facts into developed explanations shows how to add the reason to a fact.
- Building a chronology without memorising disconnected dates keeps dates attached to events.
- Decoding state, explain, compare and evaluate commands tells you how much to write.
Start these early, because they change how you read the chapters that follow.
One chapter, read as a chain
Take a real chapter section: the Malayan Union of 1946 and its replacement by the Federation of Malaya in 1948 1.
Write the chain in three lines.
- Before: Britain introduced a centralised Malayan Union in 1946.
- Why it changed: Malay opposition, led by UMNO, was strong.
- After: the Federation of Malaya replaced it on 1 February 1948.
That chain is enough to answer “explain why the rules changed” with a reason and a result. It also gives you one date to anchor, 1 February 1948.
Who should start where?
If you are new to Form 4, start with the weekly routine and the commands page. If your notes are long but your answers are short, start with turning facts into explanations. If you mix up dates, start with the chronology page.
Use the evidence-to-explanation planner to turn a chain into a paragraph. For a teacher to read your work, see online one-to-one Sejarah tuition.
