Prerequisite gap finder

Your marks keep slipping in new topics and you cannot tell which earlier skill is missing.

This tool turns a few minutes of answering into a short list of foundation skills to repair first. It helps students whose marks in Mathematics or Science fall because of a small earlier gap, not because the new topic is too hard.

Everything you enter stays on this device.

How do I use it?

  1. Choose a question set: Mathematics foundations or Scientific reasoning.
  2. Answer each question. If you like, say how sure you are: sure, not sure or guessing.
  3. Press See my summary.
  4. Read the table. Each skill shows how many items you got right and what that does and does not show.
  5. Open the repair lessons in your next-learning list, one at a time.

How does it work?

Each question is tagged with one skill, and each skill has two questions. The answer key is fixed and written by hand, so the same answer always gets the same result.

The tool only comments on a skill after you answer both of its items. One answered item gives “not enough evidence”. Two right answers give “no gap shown in these items”. One right and one wrong gives “mixed”, and two wrong give “start repairing this skill”.

Every wrong answer points to a specific repair lesson. If you were sure and still wrong, the tool flags that idea for another look, because a confident mistake is a good one to catch early.

What does a worked example look like?

A student answers both fraction questions. For 2/3 + 1/4 she chooses 3/7, and for 3/4 × 2/5 she chooses 3/10.

The table shows the fractions skill at 1 right out of 2 answered, which reads as mixed. The explanation for the first question shows the common denominator 12, so 8/12 + 3/12 = 11/12, and the tool links to the lesson on adding and multiplying fractions.

She should not conclude that she is weak at maths. The result says only that adding fractions with different denominators needs another look.

What can it not tell you?

This is not a validated diagnostic, an IQ test or a grade predictor. Two questions per skill cannot cover a whole syllabus.

Treat the list as a place to start, then test yourself again on the linked lesson.

How does it connect to the lessons?

The repair lessons live in the foundations section, for example adding and multiplying fractions and solving a linear equation step by step.

Gaps in these skills show up later in SPM Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Science. Record what you repair in the skill evidence tracker.

To work on the gaps with a teacher, read about one-to-one SPM Mathematics tuition. The one-hour trial class (from RM50) is a real taught lesson where the teacher starts from what you can already do.

Common questions

Is this a real diagnostic test?

No. It is a short practice check with fixed answer keys. It shows which small skills are worth repairing first, and it cannot measure ability, intelligence or predict an SPM grade.

Why does it say 'not enough evidence' for a skill?

Each skill has two questions. If you answer only one, a right or wrong answer could be luck or a slip, so the tool makes no statement about that skill until both are answered.

Does getting both questions right mean I have mastered the skill?

No. Two right answers mean no gap showed up in these two items. Try more questions from the linked lesson before you decide that the skill is secure.

Are my answers saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is worked out on your device and nothing is uploaded. Reloading the page clears your answers.

If the check points to the same skill again and again, a teacher in a one-to-one lesson can start from that exact skill and rebuild the steps with you on fresh questions.
