Our online one-to-one SPM Rekaan dan Jahitan Pakaian tuition gives each student an experienced teacher assigned to them, with lessons focused on planning a garment and reading a pattern before practical work begins. The first class is a one-hour trial class (from RM50), with the fee agreed before it starts.

Who does this tuition help?

Students come with different strengths. Some sew well but lose marks writing about it, and others understand the theory but cannot turn a sketch into pattern pieces.

  • Pattern interpretation. Measurements, markings and layout look like a puzzle.
  • Choosing fabric and construction. The student knows the garment but cannot justify the choices in a sentence.
  • Planning steps. The order of work is unclear, so the plan has gaps.

A student with sports, work or family duties after school can use one focused lesson to settle a single planning question instead of repeating everything.

What does a lesson look like?

Here is a worked example on pattern dimensions, made up for practice.

A straight skirt panel has a finished width of 30 cm. The pattern uses a seam allowance of 1.5 cm on both side edges. What width should the fabric piece be cut?

The teacher asks what the finished width includes. The seam allowance is extra fabric on each edge, so it is added twice: 30 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 33 cm.

The common mistake is to add 1.5 cm once, giving 31.5 cm. A garment cut that way would finish 1.5 cm narrower than planned. The teacher asks the student to draw the piece with the allowance shown on both sides, so the reason is visible and not memorised.

What can online lessons do, and what stays at school?

Online lessons cover reading a pattern, planning steps, choosing fabric with reasons and giving feedback on written answers. You describe your sketch and the teacher goes through it with you.

Practical sewing, equipment use and assessed garments stay at school, and the teacher does not make assessed work for you. No lesson promises a grade.

Common questions

Can the teacher teach me to sew online?

Online lessons cover theory, planning, pattern reading and written explanation. Sewing practice and assessed garments are made by you at school with your school's equipment and supervision.

Is this useful if I am good at sewing but weak at written questions?

Yes. The teacher helps you describe your choices in words, such as why a fabric suits a garment, using your own design decisions as examples.

Do I need any special software?

A pencil, paper and a device with an internet connection are enough. The teacher works from your sketches and your school's questions.

How much does it cost?

The first class is a one-hour trial (from RM50). The fee is agreed with you before the trial at the teacher's hourly rate, and lessons are usually about 1.5 hours, with the schedule agreed with your teacher.

If the written planning and pattern questions hold you back before you ever reach the sewing machine, lessons can work on them first. Tell us the stage that feels hardest. Parents usually arrange the trial.
