Our online one-to-one SPM Tanaman Makanan tuition helps a student explain crop-cycle concepts using evidence, such as a diagram or a table of growth readings. The first class is a one-hour trial class from RM50, with the fee agreed before it starts.

Who Food Crops tuition helps most

This subject mixes practical work with written explanation, and marks slip in the written part.

  • Stage lists without reasons. The student names germination, growth and harvest but cannot say what drives each change.
  • Tables left unread. A growth table is copied into the answer instead of being interpreted.
  • Terms that blur. Similar words for plant parts or processes are swapped in the wrong place.

A one-to-one teacher asks the student to explain a diagram aloud, so the exact point of confusion shows quickly.

What a lesson looks like: reading a growth table

Here is a worked example with invented readings. A class records the height of one chilli seedling each week.

Week Height (cm) Growth that week (cm)
1 4 4
2 9 5
3 15 6
4 18 3
5 19 1

The student first writes “the plant grew taller”. The teacher asks for a pattern, a figure and a reason. Growth is fastest in week 3 at 6 cm, then slows to 1 cm by week 5.

A reasoned answer says the slowing fits a plant moving from leaf growth to flowering, but a stronger student adds that one seedling is thin evidence and that light, water and space were not recorded. Explaining the limit of the evidence is the skill.

The teacher then links the table to a crop-cycle diagram so the stage names attach to the numbers. The free lesson on connecting a crop-cycle diagram with growth observations uses the same approach.

What can be taught online, and what stays with school?

Concepts, diagrams, data tables, the reasoning behind a practice and how to write a clear answer can all be taught online. The teacher and student work through the page together.

Field work, nursery tasks and anything that needs tools, plants or supervision belong to school and to the student’s own hands. Lessons do not cover pesticide or chemical-use instructions. A teacher cannot promise a grade.

How starting works

  1. Send a WhatsApp message telling us the form and the crop topic that feels hardest.
  2. An experienced Food Crops teacher is assigned, and the one-hour trial class (from RM50) is a real taught lesson.
  3. After the trial, you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and can ask for another teacher if not.

Common questions

Will the teacher teach pesticide or chemical use?

No. Lessons explain crop-cycle concepts, growth evidence and reasoning. Practical handling of any agricultural inputs is part of supervised school work and is not taught online.

My child does practical work at school. What does tuition add?

Tuition helps the student explain what the practical work showed: why a plant grew slowly, what a table means and how to write the answer. The hands-on work itself stays at school.

How much is the Food Crops trial class?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, charged at the same hourly rate as that teacher's normal classes. The rate depends on the teacher, and the fee is agreed before the trial. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours per class, and the schedule is agreed with the teacher.

Can lessons fit around school and other activities?

Lesson times for Food Crops are agreed between the parent and the teacher. Since lessons are online, the student joins from home at a time that suits both sides.

Is this suitable if my child is struggling, not aiming for the top?

Yes. The teacher begins with what the student can already do in Food Crops, then adds one skill at a time. Each lesson ends with one diagram or table the student can now read alone.

If crop-cycle answers list stages but never explain why growth changes, a teacher can practise that reading with the student. Tell us the form and the crop topic that feels hardest. Parents usually arrange the trial.
