Who Kadazandusun tuition helps most

Three situations are common.

  • Understands more than they can say. Listening is comfortable, but forming a sentence aloud takes too long.
  • Reading answers that float free. The student knows the general idea of the passage but does not point to the line.
  • No one to practise with. Family members may speak the language, yet have no time to correct a student’s exam answers.

A live listener is the main difference: the teacher hears the hesitation and responds at once.

What a lesson looks like: preparing a 60-second talk

Here is an original planning example. A student must prepare a one-minute talk about a family celebration. The teacher builds a plan with the student, not a script to memorise.

Part Sentences Time
Opening: name the occasion 1 about 10 seconds
Two points, with one detail each 4 about 40 seconds
Closing: one feeling or wish 1 about 10 seconds

Six sentences at around ten seconds each fit a minute. The student practises aloud with a timer, and the teacher listens for the points where the student stalls.

At the second round the student trims the sentences that ran long and repeats it without notes. The checking habit, not the talk, is the lesson. The free lessons on revising an original short response using a checklist and supporting a reading answer with relevant evidence follow a similar method for writing and reading.

What can be taught online, and what stays with school?

Reading comprehension, written expression, vocabulary and spoken rehearsal can all be covered in a live video lesson. The teacher gives feedback as a person who can hear and see the student.

Any oral or school-based assessment is carried out by the school, and the texts and standards are set by the school and the examination authority. Tuition prepares the student and does not replace assessment.
