A revision record is a short page that points to the novel instead of reproducing it. Each line holds a chapter label, an event in your own words, one checked detail and the quality or issue it supports.
This lesson closes evidence-led KOMSAS revision. If you have not yet built a table, start with building a character-event-evidence table.
What goes on the page?
Give every line five short parts. Use abbreviations so the page stays compact.
| Part | What to write |
|---|---|
| Chapter | A label such as Ch 4 |
| Event | One line in your own words |
| Detail | A checked phrase or action, three to six words |
| Shows | The quality, issue or value in one word |
| Good for | The question types it suits, such as nilai or persoalan |
Worked example: shortening a copied note
The example is an invented scene. A student copies a paragraph: Pak Kassim stands at the jetty and looks at the boat and tells Adi that he cannot sell it because every scratch is a memory and the boat carried the family through years of work.
That note has more than thirty words and cannot be scanned quickly. The record version reads:
| Chapter | Event | Detail | Shows | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ch 4 | Refuses developer’s offer | “every scratch a memory” | Setia | Nilai, persoalan, pengajaran |
The new line has fewer than fifteen words, yet it carries the chapter, the evidence and three question types.
The mistake that costs marks
The slip is to treat a record as a mini version of the book. The student keeps the scene description and loses the evidence, so the page is long and answers nothing.
The repair is to delete the scenery and keep the decision the character makes. Ask of each line: which question would I use this for? If there is no answer, the line goes.
Check yourself
Shorten this note into one record line: “In chapter 6, Adi sits beside his grandfather on the jetty at dusk and offers to carry the nets every morning, even though he has school.”
Answer
| Chapter | Event | Detail | Shows | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ch 6 | Offers to carry nets daily | “even though he has school” | Bertanggungjawab | Nilai |
The setting words such as “on the jetty at dusk” are dropped, because they do not support a question.
What to study next
