Family responsibility practice with explained answers

You have worked through the lessons and want scenarios to test your family-duty answers.

These eight original questions get harder as you go. Write your own answer first, then open the explained answer. The section overview is at personal and family responsibilities.

Questions

1. Name one value shown when a person keeps a promise even when something more fun appears. Give a reason.

Answer

Responsibility: keeping a promise means others can rely on you, and breaking it makes them plan without you.

2. Lina’s mother asks her to tidy the living room before guests arrive. Lina wants to finish her video first. State what she should do and why.

Answer

She should pause the video and tidy, because responsibility means doing what is needed when others depend on it. If the room is untidy, her mother may feel embarrassed in front of guests.

3. Why is “nobody will find out” a weak reason for hiding a mistake at home?

Answer

Honesty does not depend on being caught. Hiding a mistake also keeps the family from fixing it and can damage trust if it comes out later.

4. Hadi borrows his brother’s bicycle and scratches it. His brother is asleep. Explain what Hadi should do and one consequence.

Answer

Hadi should tell his brother when he wakes and offer to fix or pay for the repair. Honesty and responsibility apply together. His brother may be annoyed at first, but he is more likely to trust Hadi with things in future.

5. Grandfather asks Mei Ling to read a letter aloud every evening. Mei Ling has a lot of homework. Suggest a fair response.

Answer

She can agree a fixed time with her grandfather, such as after dinner, and finish homework around it. Consideration for her grandfather, who depends on her, and responsibility for her own studies are both respected. He gets his reading and she still finishes her homework.

6. Two siblings both want the family computer at the same hour. One has an assignment due tomorrow, the other wants to play. Compare two responses and choose one.

Answer

Response A: the one who asked first keeps it. Response B: the sibling with the assignment goes first, and the other plays afterwards. Response B is fairer because the assignment has a deadline and the game does not. The younger sibling still gets a turn, so neither is left out.

7. Write two consequences if a student does not help with agreed household chores for a month.

Answer

Parents may have to do extra work and feel unsupported. The student may lose their trust and find it harder to be believed when they promise to help in future.

8. Rewrite this lecture sentence as a reasoned one about Zahra, who left a younger cousin alone at a playground: “Children must never be left alone.”

Answer

“Zahra should stay with her cousin because responsibility means looking after someone who depends on her. A small child alone may get hurt or wander off, and her aunt would worry.”

The rewrite uses the person, a reason and two people affected.

Common questions

How should I use the model answers?

Write your own answer first, then compare. Check whether yours has a value, a reason, an action and a consequence. Copying the model word for word teaches less than finding what yours lacks.

Are the model answers the only acceptable ones?

No. Other values and actions can work if the reasoning fits the scenario. The model shows one complete pattern.

How many questions should I do in one sitting?

Three or four questions in thirty minutes is enough. Return later for the rest, and redo the ones that felt hardest.

If your practice answers keep missing the same part, a teacher in one-to-one Pendidikan Moral lessons can mark them with you and target that part.

  • Online one-to-one lessons for your child with an experienced teacher.
  • Your first class is a one-hour trial, from RM50. The fee is agreed before you book.
  • Happy with the teacher? Continue with lessons of about 1.5 hours. If not, ask for another teacher.
