Our online one-to-one SPM Geography tuition gives each student an experienced Geography teacher, with lessons built around the map, graph and explanation questions that student gets wrong. The first class is a one-hour trial class from RM50, with the fee agreed before it starts.

Who Geography tuition helps most

Geography marks usually go in three places.

  • Reading maps and graphs. The student knows the topic but loses marks on scale, direction, contours or a graph’s axes.
  • Stopping at description. The answer says what a pattern is but never says why.
  • Mixing up similar terms. Weathering and erosion, or migration and urbanisation, blur into one.

A teacher working one to one watches the student read a source aloud and sees at which step the reading goes wrong.

What a lesson looks like: reading a schematic map

Consider this example. A schematic map shows a river running west to east. A town sits where two tributaries meet, and a road follows the north bank.

The question: Explain why the town grew at this location.

Some students write “because it is near a river”. The teacher asks the student to find three features on the map and link each to a reason.

Feature on the map Reason it helps a town
Two tributaries meet Water supply and a natural crossing point
Flat land on the north bank Space to build, and an easy route for the road
Road along the bank Trade and access for goods

The answer now has evidence, reasons and a link back to the question. The student repeats this on new maps until the three steps become automatic.

What one-to-one lessons can and cannot do

Online lessons work well for analysis: interpreting maps and data, planning explanations and correcting vocabulary. The teacher and student look at the same source and talk it through.

Fieldwork that the school requires stays at school, because it needs a real place and the school’s supervision. What a lesson gives is a method the student can use on any source in the paper.

How starting works

  1. Send a WhatsApp message telling us the form and the Geography topic that feels hardest.
  2. An experienced Geography teacher is assigned, and the one-hour trial class (from RM50) is a real taught lesson.
  3. After the trial, you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and can ask for another teacher if not.

Read more about the one-hour trial class (from RM50) or how our online tuition works. If you are still deciding, whether one-to-one teaching is suitable for Geography covers the trade-offs fairly.

Common questions

My child is failing Geography. Can tuition help?

Yes. The teacher starts with what the student can already read, such as a simple map key, then builds up to explaining patterns. Each lesson ends with one thing the student can now do alone.

Can the teacher help with fieldwork questions?

The teacher can explain how an enquiry is planned and how recorded data is read in written questions. Any fieldwork the school requires is carried out at school.

How much is the Geography trial class?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, charged at the same hourly rate as that teacher's normal classes. The rate depends on the teacher, and the fee is agreed before the trial. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours per class, and the schedule is agreed with the teacher.

Is the help only for map skills?

No. Map and graph skills are the usual starting point because most topics use them, but lessons also cover physical and human topics and how to write a developed explanation.

Which language are lessons taught in?

Lessons are in English or Bahasa Melayu, depending on the subject, and the teacher explains clearly in whichever suits the student. Tell us your preference when you enquire. Exam answers stay in the language the student sits the paper in.

If Geography marks fall on map questions or on answers that need a reason, a one-to-one lesson can practise exactly that. Tell us the form and the topic that feels hardest. Parents usually arrange the trial.
