Online one-to-one SPM Seni Halus 2D tuition

Your child is proud of the painting, but the development record behind it is thin.

Our online one-to-one SPM Seni Halus 2D tuition gives each student an experienced teacher assigned to them, with lessons on composition critique and documenting an original development process. The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, and more than 9,000 students have been helped through our service.

Who Seni Halus 2D tuition helps most

Students in this subject are visually confident. The gaps tend to be in the critique and the record.

  • Composition by instinct. The layout feels right, but the student cannot say what leads the eye.
  • Process reduced to a summary. “I started with a sketch and then painted” replaces the real sequence of decisions.
  • Changes without reasons. The work shifted between stages, but nothing explains why.

A one-to-one teacher asks “what did you change, and what did it improve?” which produces the detail a process record needs. The lesson on explaining composition and media choices in original two-dimensional work covers the first.

What a lesson looks like: comparing two stages

Here is a worked example. The work is invented.

Stage 1 (invented): a still life of three fruits, centred, with equal spacing and the same brightness. Stage 2: the largest fruit moves to the left third, the other two are grouped lower right, and the background behind the main fruit is darkened.

The teacher asks what changed in the viewer’s experience.

Stage 1 Stage 2
Focal point Unclear, everything equal Largest fruit, left third
Balance Static and symmetrical Weight on the left offset by a group on the right
Contrast Even Dark behind the focus, so it stands out

The record the student writes says: in stage 2, the main fruit sits on the left third with a darker background behind it, so it becomes the focal point, while the smaller group on the right keeps the image balanced. The reason for the change is the evidence from stage 1 that nothing led the eye.

A final sentence notes a remaining weakness, such as the lower right being crowded, and what would be tried next. Weakness plus next step shows an honest, developing process, as practised in the lesson on comparing two stages of an original artwork’s development.

What one-to-one lessons can and cannot do

Lessons can build critique vocabulary, process documentation and written explanation, using images or descriptions the student shares.

Painting, studio time and all assessed artwork stay with the student at school, and a teacher cannot work on the piece. Screens also change colour, so lessons focus on structure and reasoning.

How starting works

In your WhatsApp message, give your form and the piece you are developing. We arrange a one-hour trial class (from RM50) with an experienced teacher, and the fee is agreed before it starts. The fee and schedule are agreed with the teacher afterwards, so lessons can sit around studio time.

Common questions

Can 2D fine art be taught online?

The critique can: discussing composition, explaining media choices, planning a revision and writing up the development process. Painting, drawing and all assessed studio work are done by the student at school.

What should I bring to a lesson?

A photo or sketch of the work, your process notes and the reasons behind key choices, however rough. The teacher asks questions that help you put the reasons in clear sentences.

Will the teacher tell me how to fix my painting?

The teacher asks what you intended and whether the work achieves it, and may suggest things to look at. Every decision and every mark remains yours.

How much does it cost?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50, and the rate depends on the teacher. The fee is agreed before the trial, and you book only if you are happy with it. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours a class.

Can lessons fit around studio time at school?

Yes. Schedules are agreed with the teacher after the trial, so lessons can sit around studio sessions and deadlines.

If the artwork is strong but the explanation of how and why it developed is thin, a one-to-one lesson can practise composition critique and process notes. Tell us the form and the piece you are developing. Parents usually arrange the trial.
