Our online one-to-one SPM Reka Bentuk Grafik tuition gives your child an experienced teacher who reviews concept thinking, layout choices and the written explanation. The first class is a one-hour trial class (from RM50).

Who this tuition helps

Graphic Design students rarely struggle because they have no ideas. They struggle in three more specific places.

  • Explaining the decision. The poster looks right to you, but the written justification says only “I chose blue because it is nice”.
  • Starting from the brief. The design is finished before the audience and message were ever written down.
  • Layout and type. Everything is the same size, so the eye has nowhere to start.

A teacher watching you work can see which of these is happening in the first few minutes, because you talk through your choices out loud.

What a lesson looks like: from brief to justified decision

Here is a worked example of the questions a teacher models.

Brief: a poster asking Form 1 students to bring reusable bottles to school.

A student’s first draft has a large photo of a bottle, the slogan in small grey text, and three colours competing. The teacher does not say “make it better”. They ask four questions in order.

  1. Who is reading this, and from how far away?
  2. What is the one thing they must take away?
  3. What does the eye see first, second, third on your draft?
  4. Which choice would you change to fix the order?

The student notices the slogan is third, not first. Enlarging it and reducing the photo gives a hierarchy: slogan, bottle, school name. Now the written justification has something real to say: “I enlarged the slogan so a Form 1 student reads the message from across the canteen.”

That sentence is a decision linked to an audience. Lessons repeat this move on your own work until you make it without prompting. Practise the same idea on your own with connecting a communication brief to a graphic concept.

What online lessons can and cannot do

Online lessons cover concept development, reading a brief, layout reasoning, typography choices, critique and planning the written explanation. The teacher can also help you rehearse how to talk about a design.

The assessed practical piece, workshop facilities and any supervised production stay at school. A teacher cannot complete or redo your design for you, and cannot promise a grade.

Is online feedback enough for a visual subject?

It works when the feedback is about decisions. Sending a photo of your sketch and explaining it aloud is close to what a teacher does at your desk. If a question needs the physical materials in front of the teacher, your school art room is the place for it.

How starting works

In your WhatsApp message, give your form and the design piece you are working on. We assign an experienced teacher and agree the fee with you before the one-hour trial class (from RM50). After the trial you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and you can ask for another teacher if not.

Before the trial, the trial lesson agenda builder helps you decide what to bring. Afterwards, our online tuition explained covers the rest.

The structured-answer self-review tool helps you check a written justification on your own. Our wider online one-to-one SPM tuition page shows every subject we cover.

Common questions

Can a teacher give useful feedback on my design over an online lesson?

Yes, on the thinking behind it. You describe your sketch, and the teacher asks about audience, message, hierarchy and type choices. The finished piece assessed at school is still made by you in your school setting.

I am shy about showing unfinished work. Is that a problem?

Unfinished work is the useful kind. The teacher starts with what is working in your sketch, then raises one or two changes at a time, so showing rough drafts becomes a normal part of the lesson.

What does Graphic Design tuition cost after the trial?

The first class is a one-hour trial from RM50. The rate depends on the teacher and is the same hourly rate as that teacher's normal classes, and the fee is agreed before the trial. Lessons are usually about 1.5 hours per class.

Do I need design software for the lessons?

Not for the thinking work. Pencil sketches are enough for concept and layout feedback. Use whatever tools your school course expects for the assessed work itself.

Which language are lessons taught in?

Lessons are in English or BM, depending on the subject, and the teacher explains clearly in whichever suits the student. Tell us your preference when you enquire. Written answers stay in the language of your course.

If your child's ideas are good but the written explanation is thin, a one-to-one lesson works on exactly that gap. Tell us the form and the piece being developed. Parents usually arrange the trial.
