Review a private rehearsal without automated grading

You practise speaking alone and cannot tell whether it was any good.

You can review a spoken rehearsal yourself with a short checklist. The aim is one clear fix for next time, not a score.

This lesson follows rehearsing follow-up answers. It works alongside a misconception log for independent revision.

How do I record and review?

Record yourself on your phone, answering one prompt in under a minute. Listen once without stopping, then once more with the checklist below. Delete the recording afterwards if you share a device.

Everything stays on your device and you are the marker. A teacher can add another view whenever you want one.

The five-point checklist

  1. Did I answer the question that was asked?
  2. Did I give at least one detail or reason?
  3. Did the subject and predicate agree in each sentence?
  4. Were there long pauses, and where?
  5. Which one word did I say with hesitation?

Write a yes or no for each, with no score.

Worked example: a review log entry

Suppose you answered تحدثْ عن هوايتِكَ (talk about your hobby). After listening, you fill in a log.

Point Result Note
Answered the question yes hobby named in sentence 1
Detail or reason yes new words
Agreement no said القراءة مفيد, should be مفيدة
Pauses one before the reason
Hesitant word كلمات unsure of plural ending

One fix for next time: القراءة is feminine, so the predicate is مفيدةٌ. Rehearse the sentence three times with the correct ending.

The mistake that costs marks

Students listen, feel embarrassed, and delete the recording without noting anything. Nothing improves.

Habit Next rehearsal
delete and move on the same error returns
write one fix in a log the fix is tested in the next rehearsal

The fix is to write the one-line log entry before you delete the file.

Check yourself

After a rehearsal you notice you answered the question but hesitated for a long time before the second sentence. Write your one fix.

Answer

A good fix is specific and small: “Prepare the second note more clearly. Write the detail keyword before rehearsing, and say the second sentence five times.” Something vague such as “speak better” is not a fix because you cannot test it.

What to study next

Keep your log together with your written mistakes. Read using a misconception log for independent revision, then try the listening and spoken practice set.

Common questions

Does this site grade my speaking?

No. The site does not record or grade anything. You review your own rehearsal with a checklist, and nothing leaves your device. A teacher or fluent speaker can listen and give feedback if you want a second opinion.

Where should I keep my recording?

Keep it on your own phone or computer, and delete it once you have reviewed it. If you share a device, use a private folder or delete it straight after listening.

How many things should I fix at once?

Choose one. Changing one habit per rehearsal is enough. If you try to fix everything, you will not notice progress. Write the one fix in your log and check it in the next rehearsal.

If you cannot tell what to fix in your own speaking, a one-to-one Arabic teacher can listen to a rehearsal with you and name the one change worth making first.
