These six tasks practise the skills from narrative composition. Write your answer in Chinese on paper first, then open the model. Time yourself with the timed original practice session builder if you like.
Tasks
Task 1 (conflict plan). Topic: “一次意外”. Write a six-line plan: want, obstacle, action, turning point, result, change.
Answer
Sample plan:
- Want: 想准时参加学校的田径比赛。
- Obstacle: 出门时脚踏车链条断了。
- Action: 只好一边推车一边跑。
- Turning point: 想起书包里有一条备用的绳子,我用它把链条绑住。
- Result: 赶上最后一组,名次不理想。
- Change: 明白准备好备用方案,比单靠运气更重要。
The obstacle comes from the story itself, and the character’s own choice, using the spare string, is what turns the situation around.
Task 2 (detail). Rewrite “同桌很大方,很慷慨,很乐于助人” with one action.
Answer
Sample: “同桌看见我没带橡皮,二话不说把他那块切成两半,递了一半给我。” It shows generosity through an action and an object, and the trait words are gone.
Task 3 (detail). Write one sentence that shows a character is nervous, without using “紧张”.
Answer
Sample: “他把手心的汗在裤子上擦了又擦,纸条却还是被捏出了皱纹。” The sweaty palms and the crumpled note show the nerves.
Task 4 (time order). Add a marker to fix the time jump: “我把书包放在椅子上。上学期我常常迟到。
老师今天没有责备我。”
Answer
Sample: “我把书包放在椅子上。想起上学期我常常迟到,今天老师却没有责备我。” The phrase “想起上学期” marks the step back, and “今天” places the next event in the present. A return marker such as “回过神来” may be added if the memory is longer.
Task 5 (ending). Theme: 感恩. Story: 每次下雨,校门口的清洁工伯伯都会多送我一把旧伞。Write a two-sentence ending that returns to the umbrella.
Answer
Sample: “毕业那天,天又下起了雨。我把那把旧伞洗干净,折好,放回伯伯的小屋门口。” The umbrella is the image, and giving it back shows gratitude through action without a moral sentence.
Task 6 (mixed). Fix this ending: “后来他成功了,过上了幸福的生活,我们都很为他高兴。” The story is about a boy who could not finish a bicycle repair.
Answer
The ending is sudden and general: “成功” and “幸福” are not earned by anything in the story. A better ending: “第二个周末,他蹲在车旁,把最后一颗螺丝拧紧。链条转动时发出轻轻的咔嗒声,他这才抬起头笑了。” It returns to the repair, the object at the heart of the story.
If you got these wrong
- Task 1: revisit planning conflict, development and resolution.
- Tasks 2 and 3: revisit meaningful detail rather than adjective lists.
- Task 4: revisit controlling time sequence.
- Tasks 5 and 6: revisit connecting an ending to the central theme.
