Speaking rehearsal with optional recording

You know what to say but freeze when the timer starts.

This tool gives you a preparation countdown, a speaking countdown and an optional private recording, so you can rehearse a spoken answer the way it feels on the day.

Everything you enter stays on this device.

Who is this tool for?

It suits students who know the content but lose their words when someone is watching, and students who have never heard their own answer played back. It works for English and for Bahasa Melayu prompts.

It also helps if you practise alone at home and want a steady routine rather than vague “speak more” advice.

How do I use it?

  1. Pick the prompt language and read the prompt, or type your own question.
  2. Set the preparation and speaking times. The defaults are 60 and 120 seconds.
  3. Tick the recording box only if you want playback, then press Start preparation.
  4. Jot keywords while the preparation timer runs, then speak until the timer ends or press Stop.
  5. Play your recording if you made one, tick the reflection checklist and pick one thing to change.
  6. Press New prompt and try again, or Reset to clear everything.

How does it work?

The timers count down from the values you set and move from preparation to speaking on their own. Preparation accepts 0 to 300 seconds and speaking accepts 10 to 600 seconds. A value outside that range falls back to the default.

Recording starts only when the speaking timer starts and only if you ticked the box and allowed the microphone. The audio stays in memory in this tab. Reset and Delete remove it, and the page releases the microphone when the timer ends.

What does a short rehearsal look like?

Take the original prompt “Describe a skill you learned recently and how you practised it.” With 60 seconds of preparation you might jot three words: skill, routine, result.

In the speaking time you open with the skill, give the routine in the middle and end with what changed. On playback you notice that you skipped the result. Your one change for the next try is to finish with a clear closing sentence.

What are its limits?

The tool does not judge pronunciation, accent or content quality, and it cannot replace a teacher who listens to you. The prompts are original practice prompts, not exam questions. Real speaking components can differ in format, so check the current format with guidance on preparing for speaking components and your school.

Practise with the matching subject pages: English speaking interview practice, English collaborative speaking practice, Bahasa Melayu individual speaking practice and Bahasa Melayu group speaking practice.

If you want a teacher to listen and coach, read about English tuition or Bahasa Melayu tuition, and see how the one-hour trial class (from RM50) works.

Common questions

Is my voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Recording is off until you tick the box and allow the microphone. The audio sits in your browser tab and is removed when you press Delete, press Reset or leave the page. Saving a file to your device is a separate button you choose to press.

What if I deny microphone access?

The tool still runs both timers and shows the reflection checklist. You lose only the playback. You can also rehearse without ticking the recording box at all.

Does the tool grade my speaking?

No. It gives no pronunciation score, accent judgement or speaking mark. It helps you practise under time and hear yourself, and the checklist helps you choose one thing to improve.

Can I use my own question?

Yes. Type it into the box above the prompt and the tool will show it instead of the built-in prompt. Your text stays on the page and is never sent anywhere.

A timer and a playback can show you where an answer wobbles, but a teacher can listen live and change one habit at a time. The one-hour trial class (from RM50) is a real lesson where speaking practice can be the focus.

  • Online one-to-one lessons for your child with an experienced teacher.
  • Your first class is a one-hour trial, from RM50. The fee is agreed before you book.
  • Happy with the teacher? Continue with lessons of about 1.5 hours. If not, ask for another teacher.
