Choose the focus that matches the mistakes on your last marked paper, not the topic that sounds hardest. One focus at a time makes progress easy to see.
Which focus fits which mistake?
| If you see this | Likely focus | First step in a lesson |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong output when tracing a loop | Tracing and trace tables | Fill a table row by row, then compare with your answer |
| Code that almost works | Debugging | Predict the output before running, then find the first row that differs |
| Blank page on an algorithm question | Problem solving | Break the task into inputs, steps and outputs |
| Marks lost on definitions and logic | Theory and logic | Test yourself with a truth table and a short explanation |
A student can fit more than one row. Start with the row that holds the most lost marks.
How do I diagnose my own paper?
Take one marked paper and go through it with three steps.
- Sort every lost mark into tracing, debugging, design or theory.
- Count each group and circle the largest.
- For the largest group, redo one question without notes and note the exact line where you got stuck.
That last line is what you bring to the trial. The prerequisite gap finder can help when the stuck point is a basic skill such as a condition or a variable.
What does a tracing focus look like?
Suppose a student writes x ← 3 then x ← x * 2 then OUTPUT x + 1 and answers 4. The teacher asks for a trace table. After line one x is 3, after line two x is 6, and the output is 7.
The mistake was reading the second line as a new value instead of a change to the old one. A focus on tracing fixes that habit, and the same habit then helps with debugging. You can preview it in tracing searching and sorting algorithms.
Is this the actual exam syllabus?
Lessons follow the school subject, and the teacher works from your school’s questions and the current syllabus. Confirm current format details on the BPK website. The SPM Computer Science guide shows the topic map.
What happens next?
Message us on WhatsApp with your form and the row that matched your paper. We assign an experienced teacher and arrange the one-hour trial class (from RM50), with the fee agreed first. After the trial you decide whether the teacher is a good fit, and the schedule is agreed with them.
