A rumusan is graded on whether it answers the exact focus of the question, using the right points in clear sentences and within the stated length. This section teaches four skills in the order you need them, then ends with a practice set.
This section is part of the SPM Bahasa Melayu learning guide. To improve without memorising a model answer, read improving rumusan without memorising an entire model answer.
How do the four skills connect?
Focus decides which points qualify, so it comes first. Selection then removes repeats, combining turns the points into sentences, and the final check protects the word limit.
- Identifying the correct focus across materials
- Selecting relevant content without repetition
- Combining points in clear complete sentences
- Checking word count and task coverage without padding
One extract, two focuses
The extract is original: “Kelab Alam Sekitar mengadakan kempen kitar semula. Pelajar menjadi lebih sedar tentang sampah. Namun, tong kitar semula sering penuh kerana kutipan lambat.”
If the focus is the benefit of the campaign, the point is that pelajar lebih sedar tentang sampah. If the focus is the problem with the campaign, the point is that tong penuh kerana kutipan lambat. Same extract, different points.
