An application shows the teaching at work in a specific situation. State the teaching, describe one case, and add a sentence linking them.
This lesson follows identifying the teaching of a prescribed hadith in Hadith learning support. The level is curriculum application, not personal rulings.
What makes an application strong?
It has three parts: the teaching, one concrete case, and a link sentence that says how the case shows the teaching. Without the link, a true story is still a loose story.
Keep the case small and visible. A person doing something in a named setting is better than a general statement about society.
Worked example: a hadith on guarding speech
Teaching: guard your speech by saying only what is good, or staying silent.
Question: Explain one application of this teaching in a school setting.
Answer: A classmate posts a photo in the class group chat that embarrasses another student. Aisyah does not repost or comment.
She messages the classmate privately to ask them to remove it. This shows the teaching because she stays silent in public and speaks only what is good in private. The result is that the student is spared more embarrassment and the group chat stays respectful.
The fit test
Before you write a case, test whether it really matches the teaching. Ask two questions:
- Does the action in the case match the verb in the teaching?
- Would the same case fit a different hadith better?
If the second answer is yes, your case is too general. Change a detail so that only this teaching explains it.
The mistake: a case that fits any teaching
A common slip is a case like “a student is good to everyone.” It could illustrate any value, so it shows none in particular.
| Case | Fit |
|---|---|
| “A student is kind to everyone.” | Too general, fits any teaching |
| “Aisyah does not repost the photo and asks her classmate privately to remove it.” | Specific to guarding speech |
Add a detail that connects to the verb in the teaching, such as “does not repost” or “speaks privately.” That detail earns the link mark.
Check yourself
The teaching is: a person should honour their guest. Write one school or home application with a link sentence.
Answer
A model answer: Hafiz’s cousin visits after school, so Hafiz offers a drink, gives up his seat at the table and listens to his cousin’s news before going back to his game. This shows the teaching because Hafiz puts the guest’s comfort ahead of his own plans. The result is a warm visit.
Check that your case has a named action, a detail tied to honouring a guest, and a link sentence. Confirm the exact hadith and wording in your textbook.
What to study next
Next, learn when exact wording is needed in distinguishing quotation from paraphrase. Then test the set with the hadith practice questions.
