Questions 1 to 3: one point with support
Question 1. Passage:
In English: Murugan covered his school friend’s bag with his umbrella so it would not get wet in the rain; he got wet himself. What does this show about Murugan? Give a point, a quotation and an explanation.
Answer
Explanation: He let himself get wet so his friend’s bag stayed dry, so he put his friend’s needs first.
Question 2. Give one weakness in this answer to Question 1:
Answer
It only states a detail (he had an umbrella). It makes no point about his character and gives no explanation. A fuller answer names the quality and says what the quoted action shows.
Question 3. Passage:
In English: For the school event, students made decorations from old newspapers. They put them in an exhibition. In two marks, how did the students show creativity?
Answer
Point 1: They reused old newspapers: “பழைய செய்தித்தாள்களில் அலங்காரப் பொருட்கள் செய்தனர்”.
Point 2: They displayed what they made: “கண்காட்சியில் வைத்தனர்”.
One detail for each mark, then stop.
Questions 4 to 6: multi-part answers and review
Question 4. Passage:
In English: Suguna walks to school every day. So the bus fare is saved, and the body stays healthy. (a) How does Suguna go to school? (b) State two benefits.
Answer
(a) She walks (நடந்தே செல்வாள்).
(b) The bus fare is saved, and her body stays healthy. Two benefits, each from the second sentence.
Question 5. Decide whether this answer is concise or padded, and say why:
Answer
It is padded. It repeats “நல்ல” (good) three times and gives only one real detail (she walks). There is no quotation and no link to a benefit. A concise answer names the two benefits from the passage.
Question 6. Apply the six-point checklist to this answer to Question 4(b): சுகுணா பணக்காரி. (Suguna is rich.) List the points that fail.
Answer
Point 5 fails: nothing in the passage says she is rich, and saving bus fare suggests the opposite. Point 1 fails because the question asks for benefits. Points 3 and 4 fail because there is no quotation or explanation.
Revise by stating the two benefits and quoting “பேருந்துக் கட்டணம் மிச்சமாகும்”.
